Hints on packing

One Wrap your mirror tightly with tissue paper & corrugated paper. By preventing the mirror moving within its' wrapping the surface cannot chafe in transit (diagram1).

Two Put the mirror into a tight-fitting box and tape or tie it into a solid package, this becomes a strong shockproof mass (diagram 2).

Three Put this into a much larger box making sure that the mirror is completely surrounded by shock-absorbing packing (e.g.. foam chips). This ensures that any blows or crushing will be absorbed by the outer packing material (diagram 3).

Four Clearly mark the parcel with FRAGILE and GLASS labels.

Mirrors up to about 16" can be sent by post. However, Parcel Force will no longer offer insurance for glass items, so sent as a parcel, your optics would be uninsured. Mirrors sent letter post can still obtain insurance; costs reduce this delivery service's use to about 6" to 8" mirrors. If you are sending by private carrier, shop around or ask our advice for the most economical routes (Interlink offers a 24 hour delivery service for items up to about 25lbs (10kg) in weight for about £12).
